Chow Mein | Noodles Recipe | Chow Mein Noodle | Atta Noodles – Easy Vegetarian Recipe with step-by-step photo and video instructions. This homemade chow mein recipe has a unique twist as it is freshly prepared wheat-based noodles instead of store-bought ones. It is a popular Indo-Chinese dish known for its bold flavors and colorful veggies. Making from scratch may sound complex, but this recipe keeps it simple, healthy, and tempting with each bite.
I always like to experiment in the kitchen by adding my twist to classic dishes, and this chow mein is no different. Instead of using ready-made noodles, I tried making them at home with whole wheat flour, which turned out to be a game-changer. It not only makes the dish healthier but also adds a fresh texture you don’t usually get from store-bought versions. I think many people are bored with the regular instant noodles, so this recipe is a fun and fresh change. One of the best parts is that it requires basic pantry ingredients, and the whole process—from making the dough to tossing the veggies—feels so satisfying. Plus, the outcome is loaded with flavors, crunch, and that signature Indo-Chinese flair.

Moreover, I would love to share some simple yet useful tips and tricks for making homemade chow mein even better. Firstly, instead of store-bought noodles, I have prepared fresh homemade noodles from wheat flour in this recipe, but you can experiment with maida or a mix of flours for different textures. Secondly, make sure to cook the vegetables only for a few minutes to retain their crunch and color—overcooking can make the dish soggy. Thirdly, you can garnish the chow mein with fresh spring onions, sesame seeds, or even crushed peanuts for added texture and taste. Lastly, if you have leftovers, store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Just reheat them in a pan with a splash of water to bring back the freshness before serving.
