This easy and quick dessert recipe is prepared by steaming the modaks, giving them a soft and melt-in-mouth texture. These mango-based modaks are very popular during Ganesh Chaturthi and are a fruity twist to the traditional ukadiche modak. This is another creative way of using mango to make a festive sweet recipe, as mango modaks are not only simple and quick to prepare but also look very appealing and taste heavenly too.
I always like to add my personal touch to every sweet dish by trying different flavors, so this time I experimented with mango to create a unique version of modak. Make sure to make every sweet look appealing by garnishing it properly. I will try different fruit-based modak recipes in the future but my recent go-to sweet is the mango modak. I think many people are used to the same traditional coconut-jaggery modak, so this recipe can certainly be a refreshing change and a new way of enjoying modaks. One of the best things about this recipe is that it can be made in no time and also does not require any fancy ingredients that are not easily available. Just simply prepare the dough, add the mango-coconut stuffing, shape it, and steam for a delightful treat.

Moreover, I will share some easy and important tips and tricks while preparing mango modak at home. Firstly, in this post, I have used a traditional modak mould to shape them, but you can also shape them by hand if a mould is not available. For an easy and quick option, you can shape them into small round ladoo-style balls. Secondly, don’t forget to garnish the modaks with saffron strands or even finely chopped pistachios to make them look appealing. Thirdly, the recipe tastes best on its own, but you can also serve it as a prasad during festivals or enjoy it as a dessert after meals. Lastly, these modaks can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 1 day. You may have to steam them again for a few minutes to refresh before serving.
