Suji Balls Recipe | How To Make Suji Balls Or Semolina Balls

Ingredients
  

For Suji Balls

  • 1 cup suji / rava / semolina coarse
  • 2 tsp oil
  • ¼ tsp asafoetida
  • 1 tsp green chilli finely chopped
  • ½ tsp ginger finely grated
  • 1 tbsp coriander
  • cup water
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp oregano

For Tempering

  • 1 tbsp oil
  • ½ tsp mustard
  • ½ tsp jeera
  • ½ tsp ginger finely grated
  • 3 tsp desiccated coconut
  • 1 tbsp coriander
  • tsp sambhar masala
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tsp lemon juice

Instructions
 

  • Firstly, in a large pan heat 2 tbsp oil and add ¼ tsp asafoetida, 1 chopped green chilli, ½ tsp grated ginger and some fresh coriander.
  • Pour 1½ cups of water.
  • Keeping the flame on low start adding 1 cup suji slowly, stirring continuously.
  • Also, add ½ tsp salt and ½ tsp oregano and mix well.
  • Cook until there is no water and the suji turns soft and fluffy.
  • Knead the dough and prepare small balls.
  • Steam for 15 minutes.
  • Further in the same pan heat 1 tbsp oil.
  • Now, add ½ tsp mustard seeds, ½ tsp jeera, ½ tsp grated ginger and mix.
  • Furthermore, add 3 tsp desiccated coconut, some fresh coriander and 1½ tsp sambhar masala.
  • Toss steamed suji balls and mix gently.
  • Also, add 2 tsp lemon juice and give it a good mix.
  • Finally, enjoy suji balls with spicy chutney.
